Warning - Before proceeding with this instruction, you must have created at least one Asset Type (see How to create & edit an Asset Status), and optionally, also one Asset Status (see How to create & edit an Asset Type), if you wish to allocate a status to your Asset.

Creating a base-level Asset

To create a base-level asset, perform the following steps:

  1. Use the left side bar menu to select Assets, then the sub-menu Assets.
  2. To create a new asset, click on the add () icon at the top right of the screen.
  3. On the popup, enter the following details:
    • Tag - enter the asset’s unique identifying tag here.
    • Name - enter the asset’s name here.
    • Description - if desired, write the asset’s description here.
    • Type - enter the asset’s type here, via the drop-down menu.
    • Status - if desired, enter the asset’s status here, via the drop-down menu.
    • Asset Owner - enter the owner company of the asset here (drawn from your Companies database).
    • Vendor Company - if desired, enter the asset’s vendor company here (drawn from your Companies database).
  4. Click Save.
  5. Tip - if the new asset did not appear, try refreshing the page.

Creating an Asset as a child to an existing Asset

To create an asset as a child to an existing asset, perform the following steps:

  1. Use the left side bar menu to select Assets, then the sub-menu Assets.
  2. Scroll or use the search function to identify the asset you wish to add a child-asset to.
  3. Click on the add () icon to the right of the asset you’ve identified.
  4. On the popup, enter the following details:
    • Tag - enter the asset’s unique identifying tag here.
    • Name - enter the asset’s name here.
    • Description - if desired, write the asset’s description here.
    • Type - enter the asset’s type here, via the drop-down menu.
    • Status - if desired, enter the asset’s status here, via the drop-down menu.
    • Asset Owner - enter the owner company of the asset here (drawn from the Companies database).
    • Vendor Company - if desired, enter the asset’s vendor company here (drawn from the Companies database).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Tip - if the new asset did not appear underneath your desired parent asset, try refreshing the page.

Editing an Asset

To edit an existing asset, perform the following steps:

  1. Use the left side bar menu to select Assets, then the sub-menu Assets.
  2. Scroll or use the search function to find the asset you wish to edit.
  3. Click on the edit () icon, then follow the instructions from step 3 in Creating an Asset, above.
