Creating a Top Level Skill or Category

To create a top level skill or category, perform the following steps:

  1. Use the left side bar menu to select Admin then the sub-menu Skills.
  2. If this is the first skill (or category) to be created then the message on the window will say “No skill categories found, Click to create your first skill category”.
  3. To create a new skill/category, click on the add () icon at the top right of the screen.
  4. On the popup, enter the following details:
    • Tag - this is a the associated alphanumeric prefix that is associated to the skill/category (e.g. 100).
    • Name - this is the associated name of the skill or category (e.g. “document control”).
    • Description - this is an optional field for providing further details about the skill.
    • Mark as Category (Checkbox) - if selected, this will denote that the tag and name entered above are only a heading or category placeholder, and the entry being created does not represent a specific skill (e.g. if “document control” were only a heading for further specific skills).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Tip - if the new Skill or Category did not appear, try refreshing the page.

Creating a Lower Level Skill or sub-category

To create a lower level skill or sub-category, perform the following steps:

  1. Use the left side bar menu to select Admin then the sub-menu Skills.
  2. If no skill category yet exists, first create one. For creation of the first skill or category, refer to above instructions instead for Creating a Top Level Skill or Category
  3. To create a new lower level skill or sub-category, first identify the existing category you wish your new item to appear beneath, then click the add () icon to the right of the category title.
  4. On the popup, enter the following details:
    • Tag - this is a the associated alphanumeric prefix that is associated to the skill. Note the value entered here will aggregate with any higher level (i.e. parent) tag numbers: e.g. entering 5 here under the above top level category example of 100 will result in an overall aggregate tag of “100.5”.
    • Name - this is the associated name of the skill or sub-category (e.g. “creating documents”).
    • Description - this is an optional field for providing further details about the skill (e.g. “Able to create new documents for a project/organisation”).
    • Mark as Category (Checkbox) - if selected, this will denote that the tag and name entered above are only a sub-heading or sub-category placeholder, and the entry being created does not represent a specific skill (e.g. if “creating documents” were only a heading for further more specific skills).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Tip - if the new Skill or Category did not appear, try refreshing the page.

Editing an existing Skill or Category

To edit an existing skill or skill category, perform the following steps:

  1. Use the left side bar menu to select Admin then the sub-menu Skills.
  2. Find the skill or category you wish to edit by scrolling or using the search function.
  3. Click on the edit () icon to the right of the skill or category, then follow the instructions from step 4 from either Creating a Top Level Skill or Category or Creating a Lower Level Skill or sub-category, above.
